Veronica Onorevole is the Director of Innovative Global Education Initiatives at the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U). Within the Office of Global Citizenship for Campus, Community, and Careers, she leads efforts to advance equitable participation in global learning through digital innovation, institutional partnerships, and transformative practices such as Virtual Exchange and Collaborative Online International Learning (VE/COIL). Her work connects global learning with workforce preparation, ensuring students are ready for life, work, and citizenship in an interconnected world.
A recognized leader in international partnership development, Veronica founded the VE/COIL Transformation Lab at the American Council on Education (ACE), launching grant programs that expanded VE/COIL collaborations between U.S. institutions and partners in Ecuador, Japan, Norway, the U.K., and Venezuela. She also co-led the U.S.-Japan Higher Education Engagement Study (USJP HEES), a bilateral research effort to strengthen institutional ties between the two countries.
Previously, Veronica managed the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program for East Asia Pacific at the Institute of International Education (IIE), where she helped resume scholar exchanges in Burma after a 25-year hiatus and launched the Fulbright ASEAN Research and U.S.-Taiwan International Education Administrators programs. Earlier in her career, she managed educational programs at the American Society of International Law, creating the Arthur C. Helton Fellowship in international humanitarian law, and worked as a political affairs researcher at the Embassy of Japan in Washington, DC.
Veronica has lived and worked in Japan through the JET Program and studied at Temple University Japan. She holds a B.A. in Economics and Japanese Language Studies from Rutgers University and an M.A. in International Affairs (Comparative & Regional Studies of East Asia Pacific) from American University.
